Custom Booking Process FAQ
Thank you so much to everyone who submitted a custom request on 10/1!
I’m truly grateful for all of the thoughtful and creative project ideas I’ve received.
I received nearly 200 requests so please be patient with me as I carefully review each one and respond over the next month or so.
I’ll do my best to take on as many projects as I can. After reviewing many of the designs I estimate I will be able to take on approx. 90 projects.
I was fortunate to receive more requests than I’m able to accommodate, so please know that if I’m unable to accept your project, it’s never personal. It simply comes down to that there are not enough hours in the day.
I anticipate reopening my books again in mid to late 2026.

When: My books will be open for submissions on October 1st (all day) and will close again the following day. Submissions sent before or after this window will not be considered.
How to Submit: All requests must be emailed to leahearltattoo@gmail.com. Please review the FAQ section “How to Submit a Custom Request” and include all required information. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
Selection Process: Each request will be thoughtfully reviewed. Projects are not accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. I select those that feel like the best fit for both you and me.
I try to accept as many projects as I can when my books open. However, depending on how many submissions I receive I may not be able to take on every project.
Consultations: Some designs may require an in-person consultation, which will be scheduled separately if needed. You’ll receive details by email if this applies to your project.
Waitlist & Scheduling: Many requests will be placed on a waitlist while I work through accepted projects. Scheduling for accepted designs will take place between November–Spring 2026.
Response Time: While I do my best to reply as quickly as possible, please allow up to 6–8 weeks for a response as I work through all submissions. I will reply to everyone who submits a request, even if I cannot take on your project.
Deposits: All custom designs require a $200 nonrefundable deposit.

I plan on taking a wide range of projects but I will be prioritizing projects in my "traditional-ish" or bold and folky inspired style.
Projects that I feel the most inspired by:

Reproductions of Vintage Illustration (for example works by James J Audubon, Elizabeth Gould, etc.)
Flora/fauna designs
Projects I do not accept:
Religious tattoos
Tattoos that support hatred or violence

Hourly Rate
My rate is $200 an hour (unless otherwise stated or agreed upon)
Pricing
Smaller custom pieces - I’ll provide a flat-rate price estimate for the entire design.
Larger custom pieces - I charge my $200 hourly rate.

Deposit
Deposits are not refundable or transferable under any circumstance.*
$200 nonrefundable deposit for custom work.
Your deposit will be held for 4 months if you do not schedule an appointment. After 4 months your deposit will be forfeited.
*All deposits are non-refundable, including in the event that Leah is unable to perform the tattoo due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, injury, disability, or death.
Please note that I do not send out designs prior to appointments.
This policy helps to protect both my time and the integrity of my designs. I also do not send out drafts because it is really hard for me to explain my creative process to clients and especially new clients.
For larger custom projects, I offer in-person consultations, where we’ll work together to create a rough draft of your idea.
I understand that not seeing the design before your appointment can feel a bit nerve-wracking, but rest assured that we will have ample time during your session to make any adjustments as needed.
