Custom Design FAQ

BOOKS ARE CLOSED UNTIL FALL OF 2025

  • How do I pay for my tattoo? Tips?
How to pay I accept cash, Venmo or credit cards. Your nonrefundable deposit will be used toward the final cost of your tattoo. Tips Tips are not required but appreciated. I charge what a tattoo costs and I will not be mad or disappointed if you do not give me a tip. I do however greatly appreciate gratuity. Please only tip if you WANT to!
  • Group Tattoos
If you have a group of four or more looking to get matching or "matching-ish" small-to-medium-sized tattoos, I’d love to host you! My studio provides a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, making your group tattoo session a fun and memorable experience. Pricing: Varies based on design—reach out to discuss details. Availability: Scheduling is flexible but typically booked a couple of months in advance to accommodate everyone. Group sessions are scheduled on Saturdays or Sundays. Deposit: A $100 deposit per person is required to secure your date and time. To book your group tattoo day, email leahearltattoo@gmail.com.
  • Touch Ups
Free touch ups? I offer free touch ups within 1 year of your original appointment. Please send me a picture of your tattoo to my email leahearltattoo@gmail.com so I can determine how much time we will need for your touch up. If you need a touch up after 1 year of your original appointment there will be a small fee. For smaller touch ups the fee is generally $50. When is a touch up not free? If there are visible signs of poor or negligent aftercare, picking at the healing design, or if the design placement is in an area that is prone to fading (finger, side of your foot, or palm) then I do not offer free touch ups. I will gladly do the touch up but the cost for a touch up will be a case by case basis.
  • How to Prepare
    1. Moisturize. Make sure to moisturize the area for a few days prior to your appointment. Please don’t moisturize the area on the day of your appointment. 2. Exfoliate. Please lightly exfoliate the area to make sure your skin is nice and soft. 3. Stay Hydrated. Make sure you are well hydrated. Make sure to have a filling and nutritious meal before your appointment. 6. SHOWER! Please please please shower, brush teeth, wear deodorant, and wear clean clothes. If your tattoo will be anywhere on your lower leg then please make sure you have a fresh pair of socks to wear or wear shoes that do not make your feet stink. 7. Wear Appropriate Clothes. Wearing comfortable clothing will make your experience much more enjoyable. Please wear layers so that you can adjust your clothes to make sure you are the most comfortable. Bring pasties if you would like extra nipple coverage. Arm: tank top, or short sleeve shirt Leg: shorts, loose fitting pants, or a dress Stomach or chest: bring pasties or wear a loose fitting shirt that we can tape up or tuck to expose the placement area *If you are unsure about what to wear please just ask me!

Appointment Time! 1. Guests. I prefer no guests. If you feel that you need/want to bring someone along please keep it to only 1 guest. 2. Arriving. Please give yourself 5-10 minutes to find parking. Please arrive right at your appointment time. No need to be early. 3. Release Form. I will need you to fill out a release form when you get to the studio. Please remember your ID! 4. Comfort. Please bring items that make you feel comfortable! Snacks, water, headphones, blanket, or even pictures of your pets! I usually have calm/ relaxing music playing in the background. 5. We go at your pace. If you need a break please do not hesitate to ask! I like to take a break about every hour for myself but we can take breaks as often as you need. 6. Talking. Please feel free to talk as little or as much as you would like. Please let me know if you would like a silent appointment (within reason). I tend to be focused and quiet when tattooing so please bring things to entertain yourself! :) If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out to me and I can clarify anything you may need to know!
  • Parking
Foxglove Tattoo Studio does not have a designated parking lot. I recommend allowing yourself extra time to ensure a smooth arrival. In the Lowertown area, it typically takes about 5-10 minutes to find and pay for parking. #1 Saint Paul Farmers' Market - Lot #193 There are signs with QR codes to pay for parking in this lot. I have the QR code if you are unable to find it in the lot. Just remember to write down your license plate #! #2 Street Parking : ZONE 651 I would recommend downloading the St Paul Parking app! Most spots are 2 hour limit but you can easily add more time through the app! #3 Union Depot Parking Daily Parking: Union Depot Parking Lot C, 390 E Kellogg Blvd, St Paul, MN 55101 There is an incredible amount of parking available in the Lowertown area. Please be aware that the CHS field and the St Paul Farmers market are very close by and can become very busy during event days/nights during the summer and holiday months.
  • Hours and Availability?
Hours: Tuesday - Friday 12pm-8pm New Client Custom Requests: My books are closed Existing Client Custom Request: If you are an existing client please reach out with your idea. I am accepting a small amount of returning client work outside of my open books window. Consults: I usually have 1-2 saturdays a month dedicated to consults. During the summer months consults are much more limited. Upcoming flash sales: I will be posting available flash openings every couple weeks via my instagram channel. Please reach out to me via email at leahearltattoo@gmail.com if you have any questions. I would be happy to clarify any aspect of my booking process.
  • Custom Design - Mock ups or preview of the design before appointment
Please note that I do not send out designs prior to appointments. This policy helps to protect both my time and the integrity of my designs. For most custom projects, I offer in-person consultations, where we’ll work together to create a rough draft of your idea. I understand that not seeing the design before your appointment can feel a bit nerve-wracking, but rest assured that we will have ample time during your session to make any adjustments as needed.
  • Rescheduling, Cancellations, or Late?
If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment contact me directly via email (leahearltattoo@gmail.com). 72 hours +: If you need to reschedule please give me at least 72 hours notice. I allow 1 reschedule. If you need to reschedule more than 1 time I may require an additional $100 deposit. 24 hours or less/same day: If you need to reschedule an appointment 24 hours or less before your scheduled appointment time you will lose your original $100 deposit. There are no exceptions to this policy. A new $100 deposit will be required to reschedule. Under certain circumstances I may decline a reschedule. Same day cancellations for consultations: Consultations are our first chance to connect and determine if we’re a good fit, so I ask that you please be mindful of your appointment time. I understand that things can come up last minute, but if you need to cancel or reschedule your consultation same day, I most likely will not offer a new appointment time. If you do need to cancel, you’re welcome to submit your idea again when my books reopen. This policy does not apply if you give me 72+ hours of notice. No call no shows will cause you to forfeit your deposit. Late? If you are going to be late let me know as soon as you can. If you are late you risk losing your deposit. I may not have time to tattoo you. Deposits are not refundable under any circumstance! I reserve the right to deny service to anyone for not respecting my time and boundaries.
  • Hourly Rate, Pricing, and Deposit
I am very transparent with pricing and will always provide you with a price estimate. For larger pieces - I charge my $200 hourly rate + design fee (see below). Minimum $200 Custom Drawing Fee: Custom designs take a lot of work outside of the studio. I will now be charging a small design fee to all custom work starting 1/1/2025. This will be added to your first appointment. *This fee does NOT apply to flash designs* Project size Small: $0-20 Medium: $20-60 Large: $60-125 Deposit I do a standard $100 nonrefundable deposit. If you need to put down a deposit to schedule an appointment I will give you all of the details on how to do that through email. Your deposit will be held for 6 months if you do not schedule an appointment. After 6 months your deposit will be forfeited. Deposits are nonrefundable under any circumstance. Please reach out via my email leahearltattoo@gmail.com if you have an questions.
  • When should you arrive for your appointment and why you don't need to be early
I kindly ask that you arrive at Foxglove Tattoo no more than 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time, the studio is small and does not have a waiting area for you to hang out in if you are early. Please note that the restrooms in the Northwestern Building are locked. When you arrive, at your scheduled appointment time, I’ll be happy to provide you with the restroom key and show you where it is. I often have back-to-back appointments, and arriving too early can shorten the brief breaks I rely on to rest, recharge, and prepare for the next session. It’s important to me to be at my best for every client, including you. I understand that the anticipation for your appointment may cause you to arrive early, but if that happens, please wait in your car or grab a coffee at Lost Fox until your scheduled time.
  • Pain Management and Tattoo Anxiety
Tattoo Anxiety: I’ve had the pleasure of tattooing many first-time clients, and I understand how nerve-wracking the experience can be. If this is your first tattoo, please let me know—I’ll take the time to walk you through the entire process, ensuring you feel informed and at ease every step of the way. Remember that you’re strong and absolutely capable of getting this tattoo! For more information on how to prepare for your appointment, please refer to my FAQ. This will help ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible. Coping Mechanisms for Pain Management: If you are anxious about the pain level for your next tattoo make sure you bring some comforts from home. These things can include: your favorite pillow, candy, water bottle, headphones, music, or have a movie queued up! Just remember to breathe and try to distract yourself.
